1.
Over the last semester, I have been trying to
learn how to code. While trying to learn, I have failed many times, which can
be frustrating.
2.
When failing, I was able to learn many valuable
lessons. For example, I learned tat it takes a lot of practice in order to
perfect a skill and that you can’t expect to get things right on the first
time.
3.
Personally, I think failure can be a very hard
thing to deal with and can even be frustrating at times. However, I think
failure is very realistic and we must learn how to deal with failure in a positive way. I handle failure by taking a
step back and reflecting on how I could improve in the area or think about how I
can change in order to improve next time. This class changed my perspective
because I learned that failure is common in even the most successful people so I
learned to embrace failure rather than dwell on it.

Hi Gabie,
ReplyDeleteCoding is an intimidating skill I’ve considered trying to learn. Your strategy for failure sounds a lot like a Davinci quote I heard, ““Every now and then go away, have a little relaxation, for when you come back to your work your judgment will be surer.” I feel you have the right idea. Good luck on the last two weeks of class!

Hey, Gabie. You're right; personal reflection on your shortcoming is probably the best way to recoup yourself and get back up again. It's important to not be too harsh on yourself, because as humans, we tend to compare all of our 'behind the scenes' to everyone else's 'highlight reel'. Everyone falls short, and failure certainly is common, just as you said. I'm glad you found that perspective.

Hey Gabie, this is definitely a great example of overcoming failure. This is not an easy field to attempt to master, however, you were able to complete the task because you were willing to fail initially in order to succeed. I also agree with you that it is very frustrating to fail, however, sometimes, failure is necessary. The picture you posted says it all, you have to try and try and try again to be able to overcome failure. Here is what I think about it: http://scottysscene.blogspot.com/2016/04/celebrating-failure.html
ReplyDeleteHi Gabie,
ReplyDeleteOvercoming failure is a great lesson that I've also learned throughout this course. It is hard when things don't go right but it's comforting to know that we aren't alone in these circumstances. It is common to experience failure, but the best way we can benefit from it is to not let it affect us negatively. Feel free to check out the link to my page!
