My Unfair Advantage

1. Human Capital - Taking this Entrepreneurship class
VRIN Analysis:
    Valuable: The class will prepare me to start a business
    Rare: Although there are other Entrepreneurship courses, this one is very unique
    Inimitable: You can take some type of entrepreneurship class.
    Non-substitutable: I think that this course prepares you and gives you non-substitutable skills.
2. Human Capital - I'm a web design major.
VRIN Analysis:
    Valuable: My major will prepare me since I know the logistics.
    Rare: Many web design majors exist but it is valuable for my business.
    Inimitable: Become a web design major.
    Non-substitutable: Knowing the logistics is non-substitutable.
3. Financial Capital - Successful and supportive parents
VRIN Analysis:
    Valuable: My parents will help fund my business at the beginning.
    Rare: Many parents are not willing to fund them.
    Inimitable: You can’t change the way your parents are.
    Non-substitutable: You can’t get better than supportive parents.
4. Social Capital – I am proactive.
VRIN Analysis:
    Valuable: This skill will get me ahead of my competitors.
    Rare: Many do not have this skill.
    Inimitable: People can learn this skill and not sit back and wait for things to happen.
    Non-substitutable: There is no substitute.
5. Human Capital – Great writing skills
VRIN Analysis:
    Valuable: This will help me persuade customers.
    Rare: Most companies have to outsource this.
    Inimitable: Take classes and learn the skill.
    Non-substitutable: Writing skills are key.
6. Human Capital – Leadership qualities
VRIN Analysis:
    Valuable: Will help manage my business as well as employees.
    Rare: It is rare to be a natural leader.
    Inimitable: Can take courses to advance your skills.
    Non-substitutable: Great leadership qualities can’t be substituted.
7. Social Capital – Network of Industry Professionals.
VRIN Analysis:
    Valuable: Industry Professionals can help start my business.
    Rare: Many do not have the resources to network with industry professionals.
    Inimitable: You can’t imitate a network but you can learn networking skills.
    Non-substitutable: Your network is irreplaceable.
8.  Human Capital – I am an advertising major.
VRIN Analysis:
    Valuable: This is will help me advertise my product.
    Rare: Most people have to outsource
    Inimitable: You can become an advertising major and learn the skill.
    Non-substitutable: I don't think this is something that is substitutable by other things because it's just something that's an innate quality 
9. Human Capital – friendly
VRIN Analysis:
    Valuable: This skill will help me interact with customers.
    Rare: I think many have this skill.
    Inimitable: Go out of your comfort zone.
    Non-substitutable: I think you need this skill to please your customers.
10. Human Capital – Relatable
VRIN Analysis:
    Valuable: I think it is really important to relate to the customers and the problem.
    Rare: It is a very rare trait since most business owners are not this young.
    Inimitable: You can not imitate this.
    Non-substitutable: I believe this quality is non substitutable since it is so beneficial.

Top Resource: I think my top resource is my industry professional network because this network will help me immensely with my business and me there for me as mentors.

  2. Gabie, it is great to see that your parents will support you in your business venture as mine would do the same. You seem to have a solid friend group that will support your goals as well. A clear advantage you have is that you are currently studying the business you would like to go in to, which will undoubtedly give you an advantage in this field.     I really like the setup of your layout. I think its a perfect example of how this assignment is supposed to look like and is organized very easy.

    Your qualities are very well thought out and its good that your parents will be able to help you through in the beginning. I feel like its a important part to starting out a new venture. Its always good to have some sort of financial backing.
