As an advertising and web design major at the University of Florida, I have learned a vast amount about both the creative and sales aspects of advertising. Upon entering college, I joined the Advertising Society to further expand my exposure to the communication field. Joining this highly selective society became an excellent opportunity to not only network but also to learn from respected advertising professionals. The mentors that I have met and the knowledge that I have gained have heightened my opinion of marketing and advertising and have made me even more determined to accomplish my future goals.
Currently, I intern for a creative marketing agency in New York City, Sircle Media. As a Sircle Media intern, I work with several businesses to help improve their brand image. I have the opportunities to immerse myself with the companies and fully grasp the languages of the brands. I use programs such as Photoshop and Canva to create graphics for the brand that are later displayed on social media. After gaining hands-on experience, I was able to confirm this is what I am meant to do.
Last summer, I was given an amazing opportunity to intern in NYC in the entertainment media fashion. I interned with the Viacom Kid’s and Family group, specifically Nickelodeon. At Nickelodeon I worked with the Consumer Products Marketing team. I worked extremely closely with each level of Nickelodeon’s CP Marketing vertical from VP to coordinator managing high-level account presentations, meetings, and events. I played an instrumental role in executing Nickelodeon Consumer Product’s 1st ever seasonal fashion show highlighting key product categories across multiple brands at a major mass retailer’s account summit. Additionally, I worked directly with the VP of CP marketing on key account recaps, visual floor plan mock-ups, and any ad hoc design needs. I drafted creative briefs for key major account activations as well as spent time shadowing in-house divisions learning the design process and design decisions. Throughout the entire summer, I worked closely with another intern on a project to develop a unique retail collaboration collection around a new brand. Through my work at Nickelodeon, I learned a great deal about the industry and enhanced my skill set.
In the past, I also interned in the fashion field at Tory Burch and JBCStyle. I was able to immerse myself in fashion companies that had the driving force behind them to succeed. By working with the Product Development and Merchandising departments of Tory Burch, I was able to truly learn about image the brand wants its viewers to perceive. At JBCStyle, I learned a vast amount about innovative fashion brands and strengthened my communication skills. My knowledge of fashion aids my ability to market and advertise for fashion brands.
